Purpose of the job

Principal accountabilities
- Jersey based payroll, ITIS and social security, and Manpower returns.
- Entry of purchases via cedit card / online transaction into Daybooks and paying creditors.
- Entry of daybooks into Purchase Ledger.
- Entry of invoices into Sales Ledger.
- Monitoring of Aged Debtors and credit control.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- GST returns.
- Production of end of year reports, for statutory reporting (Balance Sheet, P&L, Trial Balance).
- Management of domain names, including renewal, and invoice production.
- Management of subscription based service.
- Operate and update financial forecast spreadsheet.
- UK based Payroll including National Insurance and PAYE for UK based employees.
- VAT returns.
- Complete Annual returns for both Jersey and UK registered companies.
Knowledge and experience required
- Experience with Quickbooks typically both versions 2002 and 2008. Experience with the Payroll (for UK company) would be an advantage. Ability to set up spreadsheets with formulae. A book keeping qualification from a UK / European based awarding body.
- Good written and oral English communication skills.
- Competent in the the use of PC based computers. (Apple-Macs can be used as client based computers).
- Previous experience in the capacity of book-keeper / administrator for a commercial serviced based company.
- Self discipline, ability to work on own initiative and problem solving.
- Ability to set up / modify administrative systems to meet business needs.
- Experience of domain name administration is not required as training for this aspect can be provided.
- The successful candidate could typically be a professional who has taken a break from full time employment, (for example parent / carer) however would like to remain current with business management through flexible working arrangements.
- An interest in technology based solutions whilst not essential, would be helpful.
Please note that we would prefer an individual as oposed to a book keeping / accountancy service company.
Working Environment
As a provider of IT based Virtual Office technology, we provide the facility to work from home for the majority or work required, and actual hours can be outside normal office hours. Visits to the office would typically be once per week. The actual workload will vary, but we estimate typically 8 hours per week.
The candidate will ideally have broadband, we can provide workstation and internet router as well as telephone.
We operate Quickbooks as our main book keeping applications, our in-house developed “Tracker” system records all work done, and produces invoices.
